Jazz on the Classical Guitar Workshop

Learn to accompany, improvise and create your own solo arrangements of jazz standards on the classical guitar, or fingerstyle acoustic guitar.

Intensive study of jazz rhythms, scale theory, accompaniment styles and improvisation skills on the guitar all while learning and playing some of the greatest standards of the American jazz songbook.

We will also rehearse and perform jazz guitar ensembles. 

Perform your solo and ensemble pieces in the Concert Finale, Thursday, August 8, at 6:30pm.

Class sessions : Tuesday and Thursday evenings: July 9 to August 8.

(You don't have to attend every session.  Sessions can be made up or rescheduled with 24 hour advance notice.  Makeup sessions - including virtual sessions - are available for missed in-person sessions.)

Classical Guitar for Fun and Success

This class is designed to work with YOU to move forward from right where you are to reach your highest potential over the four weeks of the course.  

We will follow the FANTASTIC sequence presented by Dr. Matthew Hinsley in his book Classical Guitar for Young People and the Young at Heart.  We will work through the superb repertoire of the CGFYP book (purchase recommended).  Here is the free audio from Dr. Hinsley's book.

We will focus on efficient posture with effortless and perfect technique and tone production.  

Perform your solo and ensemble pieces in recital at the end of the course.
